An Unlikely Pair : Moroccan spices meet unexpected wines
£42.00
Discover what happens when contemporary Moroccan cuisine meets wines from some of the world's lesser-explored regions.
Join us for a relaxed and flavour-packed evening at In Vino Veritas, an independent neighbourhood wine bar in Hackney, where four Moroccan-inspired creations will be paired with four carefully selected wines.
For this special collaboration, Zellige, a modern Moroccan bakery inspired by the meeting of cultures and flavours, is teaming up with In Vino Veritas, a wine bar specialising in unusual wines, indigenous grape varieties and lesser-known wine-producing regions.
Together, we'll explore how Moroccan spices, textures and flavours interact with different wines, discovering combinations that complement, contrast and occasionally surprise.
Four Moroccan-inspired bites. Four unusual wines. Plenty of stories to share.
What to Expect
Throughout the evening, you'll discover four original creations by Zellige, each accompanied by a wine selected by In Vino Veritas to bring out different elements of the dish.
From the rich spices of Moroccan cooking to the distinctive characteristics of lesser-known grape varieties, we'll explore how food and wine can influence one another, sometimes in unexpected ways.
On the menu
- The Moroccan Focaccia: A Mediterranean-meets-Morocco creation with rose harissa, roasted peppers, tomatoes and green olives.
- The Cheesy Tfaya Swirl: Sweet caramelised onions, warming Moroccan spices and cheese, wrapped in flaky pastry.
- The Tagine Brioche: All the comforting flavours of a Moroccan tagine, reimagined in a soft, buttery brioche. Choose between kefta and tomato chutney (beef) or chermoula spinach and feta (vegetarian).
- The Sweet Finale: Two delicate Moroccan-inspired biscuits, with intriguing notes of spice, sweetness and savoury depth.
Along the way, Nadia, founder of Zellige, will share the ingredients, inspirations and stories behind each creation, while Meghna, founder of In Vino Veritas, will guide you through the wines, introducing their regions, grape varieties and characteristics, and explaining the thinking behind each pairing.
Expect a relaxed, interactive tasting with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, experiment with flavours and perhaps discover a new favourite wine.
No wine expertise required. Just curiosity, an appetite and a willingness to discover something different.

About your hosts:
In Vino Veritas is an independent neighbourhood wine bar in Hackney, specialising in unusual wines from lesser-known regions and indigenous grape varieties. With a wine list featuring over 80 wines from across the world, including countries such as Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Brazil and Japan, In Vino Veritas aims to make wine discovery accessible, engaging and a little unexpected.
Its founder, Meghna, is a university lecturer by day and sommelier by night, combining her passion for education with a love of wine. She has a particular interest in exploring lesser-known wine regions and introducing people to wines they might not otherwise encounter. Her approach to wine tasting is relaxed, informative and interactive, encouraging curiosity and experimentation without the pretension that can sometimes surround wine.

Zellige reimagines Moroccan flavours through contemporary baking, unexpected combinations and a celebration of cultural encounters.
Its founder, Nadia, left a career in innovation to retrain as a baker at Le Cordon Bleu London. Born in Casablanca and shaped by Paris and London, she brings that same experimental spirit to her baking, drawing on her French-Moroccan heritage to give the flavours of her childhood a playful new expression.
